Join Grand Rapids Art Museum director Dana Friis-Hansen, D*Lux Travel's Diana Dopson, and fellow art lovers for a 7-day ArtAdventure to Italy featuring an exclusive tour of the international contemporary art exhibition La Biennale di Venezia paired with insider access to a curated mix of architecture, landscape, and culinary experiences. Each time, we craft a new itinerary that combines beloved favorites with new places to explore so that those who have joined us before can come again. Stunning, art-related hotels, such as Gio Ponti's Parco dei Principi in Sorrento overlooking the Bay of Naples and Byblos Art Hotel in the rolling hills outside of Verona, serve as our bases. Along the way we meet local experts, enjoy wonderful dining experiences and boat rides, and give you lots of opportunities to explore on your own. • On this adventure, explore exotic Andalusia, the sun-baked region on Spain’s southern coast that embodies much of what we think of as typically Spanish: flamenco, tapas, matadors and bullfights. On this 7-day, 6-night trip, we start at a family-owned hacienda in the countryside, the perfect location for exploring the picturesque white hill towns and Cadiz on the coast. • Join us for a 10-day, 9-night, counter-clockwise circumnavigation of Sicily, taking in the very best this fabulous island has to offer. We start in Palermo – rich with culture and history – and then hug the coast, exploring the largest island in the Mediterranean whose enviable position attracted every major Mediterranean power to its shores, from the Greeks and Romans, to the Byzantines and Arabs, to the Normans, French, and Spanish. This mix of cultures created a place like no other, with a unique language, cuisine, and architecture. We visit the stunning Greek temples of Segesta, Selinunte, and Agrigento; bustling seaside towns; the sparkling salt pans of the western coast; the wild beaches of the southern coast; Baroque hill towns in a vertical landscape in the southeast; and the mystical landscapes of the interior.
